Oakley, Wootton St Lawrence and Newfound
About four miles West of Basingstoke, Oakley village has seen rapid growth in recent years and today has a population of around seven thousand, but the original village centre retains an atmosphere of considerable character. There's an active village website - see links below.

FAQ

6 Jul 2001 Can I use material from your site in our local village website?
9 Jun 2001 How do I get a link to my site from your site?

Local Links

Oakley Village Website
An active site with lots of useful information about the village and an online "tour" with a map and pictures.
Oakley and Deane Parish Council
This is a fairly new site, with less content than the "Oakley Village" site and (when last looked at, early June 2004) no email or contact form and no links. The 'next event' was still shown as one that had already taken place, the annual meeting in May.
Oakley Infants School
"Oakley is a very good school where the pupils do well", says the most recent OFSTED report (Summer 2000).
Oakley Church of England Junior School
"Teaching of this quality makes a significant impact upon the good progress made by the pupils", reported OFSTED at their most recent inspection (1998).
Oakley with Wootton Parish Churches
The site lists services at St John's (Wootton) and St Leonard's churches.
Oakley Methodist Church
Methodists have held meetings in Oakley since before 1866. The website gives a flavour of those early days as well as today's services and church activities.
LINK - the magazine for Oakley, Newfound and Wootton St Lawrence
You can order the magazine from this site, which also has selected articles from the magazine.
SOVAG - Save Oakley Village Action Group
Campaigning against the Manydown proposal to extend Basingstoke to the edge of Oakley village and other potential overdevelopment locally.
Oakley Football Club
For all ages from "Under 7s" through to "Under 17s", the club was founded in 1967 by Chelsea player Peter Houseman, after whom the Basingstoke area Youth League is now named.
Oakley and Deane WI
The web page gives details of this year's meetings and the contact details for the WI president. Oakley and Deane WI has been going strong for no less than 84 years!
